Delete my MealLoop account

This page explains how to request deletion of your MealLoop account and associated personal data — whether or not you still have the app installed. It complements the privacy policy, sections 7 and 8. (Courtesy translation — the French version is authoritative.)

1. From the app (recommended, instant)

Deletion is self-service, no need to contact us:

Open MealLoop and sign in to your account.
Go to Settings > My account.
In the "Delete my account" section, tap the button and confirm by retyping your display name.

Deletion is immediate and irreversible. If you are the sole owner of a shared household, governance is first transferred to the other members; if you are its last member, the household and all its data are deleted along with your account.

2. Without access to the app

Uninstalled the app, lost access to your account, or would rather we handle it? Email us from the address associated with your MealLoop account, mentioning that address and the subject "Account deletion".

We process your request within 30 days at most (usually much faster), and confirm by email once deletion is complete.

3. What gets deleted

Your profile: email address, password, display name.
Any household where you are the last member, and all its data: meals, recipes, meal calendar, shopping lists, pantry, change history.
Your personal ratings (rating, difficulty) on recipes.
Your community publications (published recipes) — removed in cascade.
Your reviews (rating and comment) — anonymized rather than deleted: your nickname and the text of your comments are erased permanently, leaving only the star rating as an isolated number that is no longer attached to any person and continues to count towards the average of the recipe concerned. Deleting those ratings would retroactively change the ranking of recipes published by other users.
Your saved settings and reminders.

4. What may be retained, and why

Technical error reports already sent before deletion (Sentry service): they contain neither your email nor your recipe content, and are automatically purged after 90 days at most anyway — see the privacy policy, section 2.9.
Legal obligation: if data must exceptionally be kept to comply with a legal obligation (e.g. a court order), it is kept only for the strictly necessary duration.
Outside these two cases, no personal data is retained after account deletion.
